KUNMING, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- 82 meters! Norway wingsuit pilot Espen Fadnes set a new Guinness World Record in Highest ascent reached in a reverse trajectory wingsuit flight in Jinggu Dai and Yi Autonomous County of southwest China's Yunnan province on Monday.

Espen's record was 82 meters. He was excited to achieve this height, "My girlfriend has given me the support and pleasure of her company. I will hang this record certificate on the wall of my new house."

All the challengers were required to jump from an altitude of 1000 meters, then passing through a 20-meter wide gap between two hot air balloons at a height of 200 meters. This record was measured by the vertical displacement of the lowest point where the challenger changed his flying course from downward to upward to the highest point he could reach.

"For this record, a reverse trajectory wing suit flight is a flight where flyers change flying course from downward to upward, and then fly downward again after reaching a certain height," said Xu Kai, chairman of the "Wings for Love" Wingsuit Flying World championship committee, "It needs more techniques." he added.

This record was set during the 2018 "Wings for Love" Wingsuit Flying World Championship. Over 20 world's top wingsuit flyers from 9 countries participated in the event.
